What Awaits You
You will fly overnight to Santiago, Chile, and then connect to the city of Calama, where you will be welcomed by Santiago. From there, transfer by vehicle to the town of San Pedro in the Atacama Desert, the largest and driest desert in the world. After three days of expedition in the desert, you will continue into Bolivia through the South Lipez and the Dali Desert to eagerly arrive at Salar de Uyuni, the salt desert with its immense mirror reflecting the sky. During this time, you will feel as if you have changed planets, as this strange and hostile world truly resembles the moon. The scenery changes completely as you travel from Uyuni to the mining city of Potosí, then to Sucre with its strong colonial character, before arriving in La Paz at the highest international airport in the world, over 4,000 meters above sea level. You will visit this unique capital before flying to Lima, once the capital of the Spanish Viceroyalty in 1542—a metropolis of 16 million inhabitants that will enchant you with its magnificent colonial architecture.

DAY 1 DEPARTURE TO SANTIAGO, CHILE

DAY 2 SANTIAGO, CHILE 🡲 CALAMA (2h flight) 🡲 SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA
Arrival in Santiago, Chile, then connecting flight to the city of Calama at 2,400 meters above sea level. Welcome at the airport and transfer to your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama around 4:00 PM. Free time to rest. If you wish, your guide can offer you a 1-hour guided tour of San Pedro.

DAY 3 SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA 2,400 mts (80 km 1h)
Early departure from the hotel to the Moon Valley. The Moon Valley is undoubtedly one of the most iconic places in our region. The excursion will last about 4 hours. You will take two beautiful walks of 30 minutes each. You will observe a salt canyon, “Las 3 Marias,” an old abandoned mine, and climb to the top of the large dune to enjoy a 360-degree panorama revealing an astonishing geological formation known here as the Amphitheater. Dunes, canyons, and the vastness of the desert will be the main highlights of the visit. Afternoon free to rest and slowly acclimate to the altitude.

DAY 4 SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA 2,400 mts (100 km 1h30)
Early departure from the hotel to visit the largest salt flat in Chile, which is very surprising to visitors as it is dotted with lagoons. In this vast salt desert, you can walk along the shores of the most beautiful ones. South of San Pedro, you will discover Chaxa Lagoon located in the center of Salar de Atacama. You will observe various species of flamingos during a one-hour walk along the winding salt trails. You will get very close to this lagoon, which perfectly reflects the surrounding nature.
Ojos del Salar: These two craters, filled with fresh water, were named because from an aerial view they resemble wide-open eyes on our sky, considered the purest on the planet. Four kilometers further is Tebinquiche: this lagoon is, for biologists, a reservoir of the oldest existing species. For photographers or casual walkers, this will be a real immersion into the Atacama landscapes. You will have the opportunity to stroll along this body of water and its surprising salt formations, facing the majestic volcanic Andes. Enjoy this scenery where the lagoon sometimes acts as a mirror, sometimes as a salt flat… Cocktail at the end of the day.

DAY 5 SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA (80 km; 1h30)
Departure before sunrise to the highest geothermal field in the world. The spectacle of the Tatio Geysers is impressive with their large fumaroles in a science-fiction-like landscape. You will visit two geothermal fields and its dozens of geysers and observe Tatio volcano. Then, a journey through the heart of the Altiplano. Across these vast plains above 4,000 meters, you will observe the desert flora and fauna, a wide variety of birds, herds of vicuñas, and occasionally a fox may cross our path. The route ends with a visit to a magical place: the Valley of Giant Cacti of Guatín. During a beautiful one-hour walk amid multi-meter-high cacti, you will explore a canyon, riverbed, and waterfalls. Barbecue lunch with various types of red and white meats, and chorizos, among others, following Chilean tradition (vegetarian barbecue option available). Accompanied by excellent Chilean wine.

DAY 6 SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA 🡲 HUYLLAJARA 3,800 mts (285 km 5h30)
Transfer from San Pedro de Atacama to the Bolivian border at Hito Cajón. After customs, we enter the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve. First, we will visit the White Lagoon, then the Green Lagoon with the impressive Licancabur volcano (5,916 mts) as a backdrop. Then, we cross the Salvador Dali Desert to reach Polques hot springs for a natural bath. Next, we visit the “Sol de Mañana” geysers at 4,970 mts offering a spectacular volcanic landscape. The day ends with a visit to Laguna Colorada with flamingos and the village of Huayllajara, a former borax mining site.

DAY 7 HUAYLLAJARA 🡲 VILLAMAR 3,700 mts (138 km 3h)
Departure towards the Siloli Desert, the largest in the region, where the Stone Tree is located. Crossing the Ramaditas Desert to reach small lagoons Honda, Chiarkota, and Hedionda, also called “Andean Jewels.” During these three days, you will enjoy spectacular and unimaginable flora and fauna of the Bolivian Altiplano. We will reach the village of Villa Alota and its Black Lagoon to arrive at Villamar for the night.

JOUR 8 VILLAMAR 🡲 AGENCHA 3670 mts (200 km 3h30)
Continuing the adventure toward Villa Alota with a first stop at “Lost Italy,” a rock formation resembling a forgotten citadel. Slightly further, we will see Vinto Lagoon and “El Katal” Lagoon, also called the mysterious lagoon nestled among rocks. 300 meters from the track connecting Villa Alota to Villamar, we will discover the “Cascada” Canyon, a 30-meter-deep geological fault crossed by the Alota River. The route continues north, near the Chilean border, to the Ollagüe volcano viewpoint, the only active volcano in the region. Then, crossing the small Salar de Chiguana and the valley of petrified corals before reaching the edge of the Salar to admire the sunset. The day ends at the Agencha community refuge.

DAY 9 AGENCHA 🡲 UYUNI (115 km; 2h30)
Even if expected or glimpsed in photos, it surpasses imagination. A pristine 12,185 km² surface, perfect for dreaming and meditation—a moment of peace to observe, photograph, or picnic… Time seems to stop magically as we stroll on the giant cactus island of Incahuasi. Continue across the Salar de Uyuni to the northern foot of Tunupa volcano, reaching the small village of Chantani with a rock and mummy museum. The expedition ends with a visit to a traditional salt processing site in Colchani before arriving in Uyuni, including a visit to the train cemetery.

DAY 10 UYUNI 🡲 SUCRE 2,790 mts (360 km 6h)
Morning departure to the imperial city of Sucre. First stop in Potosí to visit this colonial city, UNESCO World Heritage, and the Cerro Rico silver mine. If time permits, visit the Casa de la Moneda and the beautiful Santa Teresa convent, founded in 1685 by the Discalced Carmelites.

DAY 11 SUCRE
Half-day to explore the “White City,” UNESCO World Heritage, with the Recoleta convent, textile ethnographic museum (ASUR), beautiful 25 de Mayo square, Casa de la Libertad, and San Felipe Nery monastery. Afternoon free.

DAY 12 SUCRE
Visit the Cordillera de los Frailes from Sucre. Departure at 7:00 AM by private vehicle to Chataquilla village, starting point for a spectacular 2.5-hour hike. Visit its colonial chapel, then follow a trail with panoramic views of geological formations, local flora, and pine forests. Arrive at Pumamachay with rock paintings, then the Jalqa de Tumpeca community for lunch. Afternoon exploration of Maragua crater and the Devil’s Gorge with its waterfall. Return to Sucre in the late afternoon.

DAY 13 SUCRE
Sunday free day to explore, including the magical Tarabuco market.

DAY 14 SUCRE 🡲 LA PAZ 3,600 mts (2h30 flight)
Transfer to the airport and flight to La Paz, transfer to the hotel to drop off luggage. After lunch, visit the Moon Valley nearby for a 1.5-hour walk to discover a breathtaking geological site resembling the Moon. Continue to another rock formation, a 150m monolith called “the Devil’s Molar.” Walk to the viewpoint to admire La Paz and the surrounding Altiplano. Return to the hotel around 7 PM.

DAY 15 LA PAZ
City tour on foot for 3 hours, exploring culture and history. Visit the main colorful market, the witch market, the colonial district, Plaza Murillo, and San Pedro prison. Afternoon free.
Suggestions: Take the cable car in the afternoon and watch a “Cholitas luchadoras” wrestling match in the evening.

DAY 16 LA PAZ 🡲 LIMA (3h flight)
Transfer to El Alto airport around 4 AM for your flight to Lima. Transfer to hotel and free morning. Around 1 PM, visit Lima’s historic colonial center (Plaza San Martin, Casa Aliaga, churches of La Merced, San Pedro, San Francisco, Central Reserve Bank Museum) ending at Plaza de Armas, Presidential Palace, and City Hall. Return to Miraflores hotel in the evening and free time.

DAY 17 LIMA
Today you will depart around 8:30 AM towards Callao for a 3-hour boat excursion to the Palomino Islands. This natural reserve is home to seabirds, sea lions, Humboldt penguins, dolphins, and albatrosses. Since ancient times, guano, an extraordinary natural fertilizer produced by bird droppings, has been harvested and exported here, which was the main source of wealth for Peru in the last century. If you wish, you can dive among the wild sea lions and experience an unforgettable adventure with a lifeguard.
Return to your hotel and free time.

DAY 18 LIMA 🡲 RETURN
Today is the day of farewells for those heading to Lima airport around 1:00 PM for your international return flight.
