Are we on the right track???

The world we know today is no longer the same as that of yesterday, and will no doubt be different again tomorrow, due to the rapid pace of technological innovation across all sectors. While the primary purpose of progress is, of course, to simplify our existence, humanity is slowly realizing that it is increasingly difficult for some to adapt, while others have become completely dependent, dulled, perverse, dishonest, and in some cases even dangerous.Currently, there is a growing malaise among the Western population; it is no longer uncommon to know people in our circles who suffer from a life devoid of interest and meaning. Medical consultations with psychologists are increasing worldwide, among both young people and adults, across all social classes. Couples are breaking apart and reuniting, drugs are becoming the scourge of our youth, who have no family or social anchors and no longer believe in a prosperous or harmonious future. Antidepressants and anxiolytics have also become nutritional supplements for adults, helping them cope with the stagnation of their existence in an unhealthy world of inappropriate virtuality. This growing hyper-connection is undoubtedly the drug of the 21st century, radically transforming our worldview, upsetting our reference points, and changing our behaviors and our relationship with reality. Today, humans resemble docile robots, indispensable and reachable at any time of the day, frantically running after time and money in order to realize their insatiable materialistic ambitions. This infernal spiral of global overconsumption pushes us to always meet our objectives and commitments, at the expense of our human values, a healthier, more pleasant, and more balanced quality of life. This consumer society has fulfilled its promises since we currently live in absolute comfort, but in order for economic markets to continue growing, we have moved into a mode of superfluous comfort. This life balance, which belongs to each of us, is threatened by a system that has become obsolete, without rules or ethics, which we have created consciously or unconsciously—it doesn’t matter—but whose current consequences are severe on a global scale, both environmentally and humanly. Our globalized society currently lives at 200 km/h, focused on devotion to competition, perfection, and endless performance. This marathon had a start but no longer has a defined finish, taking a dangerous turn for our mental and physical health. Signs of stress are omnipresent, with multiple causes and catastrophic consequences that will soon become disastrous. Humans are not superheroes; they cannot live under constant pressure to the point of exhaustion while being continuously juggled between work, marital/family/social responsibilities, and, of course, increasingly caring for aging parents. Out of breath, they become irritable, nervous, anxious, unable to sleep enough, gradually developing cardiovascular diseases, ulcers, cancers, and burnout due to this state of constant hyperactivity, which escapes them and over which they ultimately lose control.
